Regional Water Authority Downtown Benefactor
The newest Downtown Benefactor member of the DMBA is the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority, a non-profit public corporation created by the Connecticut Legislature in 1977. View the RWA's enabling legislation. RWA owns more than 27,000-acres of land and provide a wide array of recreational opportunities and water-related services. Through their Whitney Water Center, they offer hands-on water science programs to thousands of students annually.
The Regional Water Authority is dedicated to being an integral part of and improving the communities they serve. Through a focused program of grants, community relations activities and employee volunteerism, the RWA strives to improve the quality of life and economic vitality of the communities where it provides water service and owns land. On average, the RWA supplies 46 million gallons of water a day to a population of some 430,000 persons. They provide water and other services in all or portions of Ansonia, Bethany, Branford, Cheshire, Derby, East Haven, Hamden, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Seymour, West Haven and Woodbridge. They own land in Beacon Falls, Guilford, Killingworth, Madison, and Prospect.
The RWA's mission is to provide customers with high quality water and services at a reasonable cost while promoting the preservation of watershed land and aquifers. Their mission is to be an innovative water utility that sustains life, strengthens our communities, and protects resources for future generations.
