Milford’s Beloved Tradition Returns: “Fair on the Half Shell” (Formerly known as Oysterfest Fair) – August 16, 2025

It’s back! After overwhelming public demand and hundreds of messages, calls, and online petitions, the Downtown Milford Business Association (DMBA)  is proud to announce the return of one of Connecticut’s most anticipated and beloved summer events. Once known as the Fair on the Green and a major part of the Oyster Festival, the event returns under a bold new name: “Fair on the Half Shell.”

For over 50 years, this iconic fair attracted thousands of attendees annually, serving as a cornerstone of Milford’s summer season and a vibrant expression of local culture. The DMBA has stepped in to ensure that this legacy continues, preserving the spirit of the event while introducing it under a new name that continues to honor Milford’s coastal roots. With full support from the Mayor’s Office and in collaboration with the Oysterfest committee, the event’s transition is a united effort to celebrate heritage and community connection.

The event will feature over 300 local vendors offering handcrafted goods, art, jewelry, apparel, wellness products, home décor, pet accessories, and more! Attendees can enjoy live music, food trucks, children activities, and all-day entertainment in a scenic, walkable location that connects the community and welcomes visitors of all ages.

The DMBA is proud to carry this cherished tradition forward—breathing new life into a legacy that has united generations. Fair on the Half Shell is a vibrant celebration of what makes Milford and Connecticut shine: unmatched creativity, powerful community spirit, and the charm of a small coastal town.

The Milford Oysterfest will now be hosting their event at Fowler Field only.

Oyster Eve will take place on Friday, August 15th, from 5-10pm and

Oyster Fest will take place on Saturday, August 16th, from 5-10pm (Evening Only, no Daytime)

Train

• The easiest option, take the train to Milford.
• The Metro -North New Haven line stops in downtown Milford: https://www.mta.info/schedules
• 2 blocks to the Festival at Fowler Field.

Parking

• South Side of Broad Street along the green will be closed from 8:30am-3:30pm.
• All other streets are open so you may park downtown.
• Harborside Middle School, The Milford Senior Center, Wasson Field, Parson’s Government Center, new public parking under 44 River Street, Armory Square/Harborwalk, Lisman Landing and the Downtown lots (Post office, Courthouse, Harborside school) will be available for free parking.

3. Will there be Food ?  Yes, we have a 25 Food Truck Court behind Mary Taylor Church and 22 Food Vendors on the Green, Lemonade, Kettle corn, Ice cream, Italian Ice, shaved ice, Dirty Soda and More !!
4. Will there be Music ? Yes, we have the Rashaan Langley Project, Shot Down and the Steel Band Trio on the Main stage at Greens end.  Acoustic will be played at the Gazebo and we will have a DJ playing music in the Food Truck Court.
5. How much are tickets ? NO COST TO ATTEND
6. Anything for Kids ? The Fair is Family Friendly. We have Kids Activities next to the Food Truck court, behind M&T Bank. We have Bouncy Houses, Face Painting, Painting Oysters with Giggling Pig, Henna and Lego Building tables with our Sponsor: Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent care.
